The purpose of WRCU is to provide both our listeners and DJs with access to a wide variety of non-commercial programming that cannot be heard on any other station in the area. We also strive to provide Colgate students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in radio broadcasting.
WRCU 90.1 FM is Colgate University’s only radio station. Founded in 1951, it is the largest student run organization on campus – students serve as DJs, producers, management, and also help out with publicity, news, and the technical side of broadcast radio. Last semester we had over 100 DJs! We’re completely student run, with several members on our board of directors and both an administrative and academic advisor. Our mission is simple: to bring new and undiscovered music to Colgate’s airwaves. During times not hosted by student DJs, we broadcast NPR from our local affiliates, WRVO so that WRCU is never off-air.
